best outdoor activities for couples retreat

When was the last time you and your partner got away for the weekend? Turning off the day-to-day stresses and turning on your out-of-office can be beneficial for many relationships, no matter how long you’ve been together. Spending quality time together allows you to reconnect with one another and create more wonderful memories.

Best Outdoor Activities for a Couples Retreat

With this in mind, we wanted to show you just some of the many simple, yet perfect outdoor activities you could do as a dynamic duo on your next couple holidays UK.

#1. Go for a walk!

Whether you’re on a staycation within the UK or looking for something to do together at home, how about a nice romantic walk? If you’re staying near a woodland area or a coastline, there are plenty of trials and pathways you could discover together. If you’re holidaying somewhere new, we recommend looking online for any local walking routes or trails before your visit.

#2. Enjoy a beach day!

When was the last time you had a beach day, just the two of you? Spend time on the beach sunbathing, building sandcastles, paddling in the sea, visiting the pier attractions, getting some chips and looking out to sea. Letting your hair down and having fun together has never been more important.

#3. Pack a picnic!

Pack up a basket or bag of your favourite snacks, a blanket, a flask of tea or an ice-cold drink. Sit down on the blanket, take in your surroundings and spend some quality time together with a picnic. There’s no better way to connect with nature – and each other.

#4. Charter a boat!

If you both love being out on the open waters, why not consider charting a boat? To up the romance level, why not watch the sunset whilst aboard with a glass of your favourite beverage?

#5. Hire a hot air balloon!

If your partner makes you feel like you’re on cloud nine, why not try to touch it in a hot air balloon ride? If this is something you’ve always wanted to do, there's no harm in looking to see if somewhere offers hot air balloon rides near your staycation destination so you can see the landscape from a whole new perspective. This is also a great opportunity to ‘pop the question’ if you haven’t done so already!

#6. Take a bike ride!

Taking a bike ride to explore your surroundings is a lovely way to discover something new, immerse yourself in nature and spend time with your partner. Why not go one up and see if a tandem is available to hire?

#7. Get competitive with mini golf!

How about a spot of friendly competition with a game of mini golf? Mini golf is a laid-back sport, perfect for couples that like a little healthy competition and a good laugh. Who can get the most holes-in-one?

#8. Spend quality time together stargazing!

How about holding hands, looking up at the night sky, stargazing? This is something you could do any time of year, anywhere in the world, provided there’s not a lot of cloud coverage. What will you spot? Will you be wishing upon a shooting star?
