Why Spain May Be the Best Country for Travelling

reasons to visit spain

Spain was the first place I ever travelled to. I was 6 months old at the time so I don't remember it, but as it was the only place I travelled to with both of my parents (before they got divorced), it's a special place for me. It's also one of the first places I house sat in and in fact my first long term house sitting job was in Spain. The are many reasons to visit Spain which you can add to your Spain bucket list, and this post covers a few of my favourite ones!

Why Visit Spain?

This country is brimming with beloved cities, breathtaking natural beauty, fascinating culture, and delectable cuisine. Every portion of Spain is distinct in its own way. Also, according to a recent study, Spain is once again ranked as one of the best countries to live in terms of dealing with the rona stuff.

There are various reasons to visit Spain, including its famous festivals, reasonable prices, enviable blue flag beaches, vibrant nightlife, delectable gastronomy and political and economic stability, making it one of the best places to live and invest in right now. Here's a brief inside look (or rather: sneak peek) at one of the world's most popular vacation destinations.

Spain Bucket List

The main reason that more tourists prefer to visit Spain is because of the much better degree of security and tranquility, as well as the sturdy infrastructure: high-quality hotel services, good road connectivity, and reliable air traffic.

Cosmopolitan Cities

From Madrid and Barcelona to Valencia and Seville, all are worthy of your Spain bucket list - we are truly spoiled for choice when it comes to must-see places in Spain. Madrid and Barcelona are world-famous for their vibrant arts and culture scenes, fantastic food, incredible museums, and impressive shopping options. Seville is yet another remarkable Spanish city that provides visitors with a diverse cultural experience, ranging from flamenco dancing to architectural heritage. With so many options, it'll be impossible to choose, so you'll just have to go to them all (if you can)!

Fabulous Food

One of the highlights of Spain for many people is, of course, the incredible food available. The country's vibrant cities have Michelin-starred restaurants and lively tapas bars, while small-town cafés and restaurants serve traditional dishes made with love from family recipes.

Spain, and in particular Madrid, are world-leaders when it comes to delicious, authentic vegan foods, so you can even try classics such as paella, 'seafood' stew, chorizo, patatas bravas and even calamari without it weighing heavily on your heart and conscious - check out my post about vegan Madrid for more information. Because Spanish cuisine is known for being delicious, healthy, and flavourful, there are many unique dishes available to tempt your taste buds.

Fantastic fiestas, Colourful festivals and carnivals

Some of Spain's best festivals and fiestas have deep religious and historical significance, while others are simply for partying and having a good time. Whatever you're into, at least one festival should be on your Spain bucket list in my opinion.

From the San Fermin running of the bulls in Pamplona and La Tomatina tomato throwing festival in Buol to La Rioja's annual wine drenching festival, Spain has some of the world's most famous and bizarre festivals and fiestas. In addition to these more unusual festivals, each Spanish town has its own fiestas, during which locals gather, dress up, eat, drink, and celebrate.

El Camino de Santiago

I recently read, and quickly became obsessed, with Cheryl Strayed's 'Wild' - where she hikes over 1000 miles alone in the wildness. Since my obsession started, I've been looking into other wild hikes that can be done world-wide. Spain is famous for its own one - El Camino de Santiago - at 500 miles it's Europe's longest pilgrimage route where you can stay in ancient monasteries along the way.

Spain's amazing climate and some of the world's best beaches

Which is (arguably) the envy of the rest of Europe, and it also has over 5,000 km of diverse coastline, thousands of interesting historic sites, and numerous areas of outstanding beauty.

Wonderful Spanish beaches can be found all along the Mediterranean and Atlantic coastlines, and this is undoubtedly one of the top reasons why millions of tourists visit Spain each year. Whether you decide to fly to Ibiza or rent a boat and sail around Mallorca, you'll find breathtaking landscapes and unforgettable experiences.

Historical & Cultural Attractions

For international visitors, Spain's historical richness, as well as the significant landmarks and tourist attractions that link to its history, is a major draw.
