Riad Star Marrakech Review

Riad Star Marrakech is one of the best luxury riads in Marrakech with a pool. Situated in a great location and offering a delicious breakfast, this is riad is hard to beat.

We stayed for two nights and this is what we thought:

Check-in Riad Star Marrakech Review

Check-in was one of the most beautiful check-ins we've had in our whole lives, I mean, just look at that decadent Moroccan wall!

It took all the willpower I had to stop me immediately photographing it...

The willpower lasted about three seconds:

There are also fezes to try on and you instantly feel "like you're in Morocco" a feeling that intensifies when they bring you the traditional Moroccan drink: Green Tea

Whilst we were drinking our tea, we were given a map and extremely clear instructions on how to find Riad Star - be warned, like every single riad in Marrakech, it's hard to find.

Luckily, Riad Star have come up with a solution to this: their Marrakech Riad Travel Guide - this app has GPS in it so if (aka when) you get lost, you can find your way back.

GPS and 3G don't work perfectly in Marrakech, often it won't know exactly where you are and you'll have to walk around a bit until it catches up, it's part of the adventure and charm of Morocco though.

Once we were done with check-in we checked out our room.

Room Review Riad Star Marrakech

Riad Star has 7 rooms, we were on the top (second) floor.

Like the rest of Riad Star, our room was ornately decorated and super comfortable.

There was a cute little sitting room area with a TV and our own fez!

Our shower was incredible!! It was a walk-in wonder with a massive seat.

Rooftop review Riad Star Marrakech

One of our favourite things about Riad Star Marrakech was the rooftop, the sunsets from up here were just incredible!

You can opt to have dinner up there or just simply hang out and enjoy the views.

Pool Riad Star Marrakech

But our absolute favourite thing about Riad Star Marrakech is the pool.

It was one of the cutest pools we've ever seen and we spent ages taking lots of insta-good shots by it.

The water itself is freezing (of course). The temperatures are very high in Morocco and you wouldn't want it any other way!

Location of Riad Star Marrakech

Riad Star is in a good location, right outside are cute alleys and doorways perfect for taking photos:

Like everywhere in Marrakech, people will come up to you and try to give you directions (and then ask for money). Just tell them you don't need it.

Riad Star is only technically 10 minutes walk from popular Jemaa El Fna - I say technically because, by the time you've got lost + distracted by all the beautiful doors and things for sale on the way, it will probably take you more like 30 minutes. haha.

We ate at Green Vegetarian and Falafel King, both of which are just 2 minutes walk from Riad Star. We liked these both so much we actually went back a second time.

Riad Star is also really close (3 minutes walk) from an excellent fruit and veg market.

Massage at Riad Star Marrakech

We both had a 30 minutes massage at Riad Star Marrakech and we liked it a lot. The woman was very nice. (300 MAD)

Breakfast at Riad Star Marrakech

Breakfast is included at Riad Star and is delicious. We had bread, excellent coffee, jams, fruit, freshly squeezed orange juice and vegan-friendly pancakes.

If you're not yet vegan they also offer non-vegan friendly pancakes, butter and yoghurt.

Airport pick-up

We paid 20 Euros to be picked up from the airport and taken to Riad Star, although you can find a cheaper taxi, I recommend still opting for this Riad Star option as they actually take you to the door:

The taxis can only get so close to the Riad, and from there, someone from the hotel was there to walk us to the riad. Without them, in a new country, tired from the flights, with our heavy bags, it would have been super hard - if not impossible to find the riad. (This is true of all riads in Marrakech, they're all notoriously hard to find.) On top of that, lots of Moroccans can see newbies a mile off and love trying to show you the way (and then asking for money for it).

Conclusion Riad Star Marrakech Review

All in all, we loved our stay at Riad Star - it's a beautiful property and thanks to the massage, pool, comfy bed and delicious breakfast we had everything we needed, and more, to enjoy our stay in Marrakech. The location is ideal too and thus we recommend them highly.

To book your own stay, head on over to their website or find them on Agoda

Riad Star has a few sister Riads which you can see on, we haven't personally stayed at them but if the quality there is as good as the quality at Riad Star, you can't go wrong!

Disclaimer: Travelling Weasels were invited as guests of Riad Star but as always all opinions are our own, we never recommend something we haven't personally tried and loved because that would be immoral and we strive to be moral.
